Quetta, Pakistan – In a significant health awareness event held at Government Girls High School, Killi Shekhan, the Kathleen Kamal Raisani Foundation (KKRF), in partnership with The Smaaj and the Women Development Department, commemorated World Handwashing Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This collaborative initiative highlighted the importance of preventive health practices and educated attendees on critical health issues.

The event was attended by Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for the Women Development Department, who underscored the necessity of basic hygiene practices in reducing the spread of disease. She emphasized that many illnesses affecting children under the age of five, including respiratory infections and diarrhea, could be prevented through regular handwashing with soap. This message of preventive care resonated deeply with students and educators, marking World Handwashing Day as a vital opportunity to reinforce essential hygiene practices.

Dr. Buledi also drew attention to the escalating issue of breast cancer in Pakistan, where nearly 90,000 women are diagnosed annually, resulting in approximately 40,000 deaths. She encouraged women to prioritize early detection and become aware of the warning signs of breast cancer, noting that timely intervention can make a life-saving difference.

The Kathleen Kamal Raisani Foundation received commendations from Dr. Buledi for its role in spearheading this event, which reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting community health. The foundation’s partnership with The Smaaj and the Women Development Department exemplifies a collaborative approach to creating positive, lasting change in public health awareness and education.

The event saw an active participation from students, teachers, and community members, who united in a shared commitment to enhance health literacy and support healthier communities across Balochistan. The day’s activities concluded with a pledge to maintain and expand these vital health initiatives, ensuring that both hygiene practices and breast cancer awareness remain central to KKRF’s mission.

This impactful event stands as a testament to KKRF’s dedication to community welfare and public health, strengthening Balochistan’s resilience through informed, empowered citizens.
