Empowering Female Home-Based Workers: A Transformative Awareness Session

We are delighted to share the highlights of our recent awareness session tailored for female home-based workers, a vital initiative organized by the Kathleen Kamal Raisani Foundation. Held at Killi Almas, Jhatak Abad, Air Port Road Quetta, this event brought together key figures, community members, and foundation representatives to address critical issues surrounding gender-based violence, legislative protections, and women’s empowerment.

The session commenced with a soulful recitation of the Quran by a community member, setting the tone for a day filled with insights and empowerment. Bibi Zulekha, our esteemed Chief Executive Director, warmly welcomed the participants, articulating the foundation’s mission, objectives, and its unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment.

Mansoor Ahmed passionately emphasized the global impact of the 16 Days Activism Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence, shedding light on its origins and the remarkable participation it has garnered over the years. This year’s theme, “Invest to Prevent Violence against Women & Girls,” underscores the ongoing commitment to addressing gender inequality.

Mr. Haji Naeem, Deputy Director of the Labor and Manpower Department, Government of Balochistan, shared pivotal insights into the Balochistan Home Based Workers Act, 2022. This legislation aims to protect the rights of home-based workers, ensuring their equal treatment and providing essential benefits in various circumstances. The discussions also delved into the crucial role of social security and EOBI.

Ms. Mashwas Saeed captivated the female community with her discourse on the role of women as caretakers. Advocating for gender equality, she highlighted the women’s and juvenile Reclamation Center as a resource for women facing inappropriate behavior. Women, being the primary caretakers of children and elders globally, play a pivotal role in navigating societal changes.

The session concluded with expressions of gratitude from the Kathleen Kamal Raisani Foundation’s management to the community for their active participation.
